Both PRP and PRF have many uses, but at Eternal Wellness we use it to rejuvenate the skin. The platelets that are within the plasma contain growth factors, which stimulate skin tissue repair and regeneration, as well as new collagen and elastin production. This process results in skin that’s healthier, firmer, tighter, and more youthful-looking.

When patients arrive for their treatment, blood is drawn from a vein and placed into a centrifuge so that the plasma can be separated from the red blood cells and other impurities. The plasma is then placed into a syringe so that it can be injected into the face or scalp. It can also be used in conjunction with other treatments such as microneedling, microdermabrasion, facials, and dermal fillers.

Why Choose PRP & PRF?

PRF treatments cost more than PRP treatments due to the advantages PRF has.

Cost

PRF releases the growth factors for a longer period of time than PRP due to the blood-thinning additives that PRP has. This means that PRP is only "active" for about one day, while PRF is active for about one week.

Results

PRF triggers more blood flow, which essentially gets better results than PRP. PRF also spreads more slowly when administered, which means that the body is able to take advantage of the growth factors more efficiently.

Blood Flow and Diffusion

During the spinning process, PRF is separated using a different angle and a lower spin speed (g-force) than PRP, as well as a different type of vial.  This different spinning process means that the platelets and white blood cells remain at the top of the vial, providing a higher concentration of growth factors.

Concentration

PRP's extraction process involves additives and chemicals to thin the blood, while PRF is extracted in a process that is completely natural and unmodified, with no additives.

Extraction

PRF delivers about 8-10 times more growth factors than PRP does

How are PRP & PRF Different?

What happens during a PRP or PRF treatment?

PRP and PRF treatments consist of two parts: a blood draw and an injection or application to the desired treatment area. We will first draw blood from a vein. This blood will be placed into a centrifuge, which will separate the plasma from the red blood cells and other blood components. Once the plasma has been separated, it will be added to a syringe so that it can be injected or applied directly into the targeted treatment area where rejuvenation and regeneration is desired.

Treatments take approximately 60 to 90 minutes, and during your consultation, we will let you know an estimate on how many treatments you may need. Maintenance injections are typically recommended every 6-12 months.

Recovery & Results

PRP and PRF do not require any downtime. Patients can go right back to their normal activities, although some have mild soreness, bruising, itching, and/or scabs at the treatment sites for a day or so. The first result will take approximately three months to become apparent, with final results visible at 6-12 months. Once results are finalized, you will see the rejuvenating benefits of the treatment, which include brighter, healthier, smoother skin.

Before & Afters

A small amount of blood is safely drawn from your vein. It is then placed in an FDA approved centrifuge system, which spins at a high speed to separate the platelets. The platelet rich plasma or fibrin is then reintroduced into the desired treatment area to release growth factors to enhance collagen production for firmer, smoother, and glowing skin.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) are both regenerative therapies that use your blood components. The main difference lies in their preparation method. PRP is obtained by centrifuging the blood to separate platelets and plasma. PRF is produced by using a slower centrifugation process, resulting in a fibrin matrix with a higher concentration of platelets. PRF is often considered more robust for certain applications due to its thicker consistency.

Yes, both PRP and PRF are safe treatments because they utilize your body's own blood components, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or infections.

PRP and PRF have a wide range of applications. At Eternal Wellness, we use them specifically for skin rejuvenation, scar reduction, and hair restoration. They are versatile therapies suitable for many aesthetic and medical concerns.

Good candidates for PRP and PRF therapy typically include individuals seeking non-invasive, natural solutions for skin or hair concerns. Your healthcare provider will assess your specific goals and medical history to determine suitability.

Results vary among individuals, but many patients notice gradual improvements within a few weeks to months following treatment. The regenerative process continues over time, with optimal results often seen after a series of sessions.

Discomfort during PRP or PRF treatment is typically minimal. Topical numbing agents or local anesthesia may be used to ensure a comfortable experience.

The recommended number of sessions will vary based on individual goals and the specific treatment area. Your healthcare provider will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

PRP and PRF results can be long-lasting, with effects that may persist for months. Periodic touch-up treatments may be recommended to maintain your desired look.

Adverse reactions or complications are rare with PRP and PRF therapy since we are using your body’s own blood components. Your healthcare provider will discuss potential risks and safety measures during your consultation.

After treatment, you may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and gradually subside without issue.

Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen for at least seven days prior to the procedure. These medications can thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding and bruising during the injection process.
Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to the injection. Alcohol can cause dehydration, which can lead to increased pain and discomfort during and after the procedure.
Avoid engaging in physical activity that could cause strain or stress on the area that will be injected with PRF. This includes strenuous exercise or activities such as running or lifting heavy weights.
